Youth and Young Adults Events

Brisbane West Deanery

During 2009 three Deanery youth events were held in Brisbane West Deanery. 

In May, a special night of Adoration was held at Holy Spirit Church Auchenflower, with a talk presented by guest speaker Fr Chris Gleeson SJ, the Director of Santa Teresa Spirituality Centre at Ormiston. Supper and fellowship followed this event.

A Youth Mass was held at Christ the King Church Graceville in October, celebrated by the Dean, the Very Rev Tim Harris.  This liturgy focused on commissioning the Youth to go back to their own Parishes to minister to their own communities.  A BBQ and concert followed the Mass.

Our final event was an Advent Reconciliation Service held at Our Lady of the Rosary Church Kenmore.  Fr Francis Onwunali, the Parish Priest of Kenmore was the Celebrant and Homilist.  The group then gathered for a "Chocolate Delight Supper".

During 2010, Youth will continue to be a focus for Brisbane West Deanery, with the forming of a Deanery Youth Council.  Once formed, this group will plan up to four social, spiritual or litugical events per year, specifically designed for youth and young adults, which will compliment youth activities within each of the Parishes fo the Deanery.
